User Enrollment Overview |
Users must be enrolled to use a vPod for time and attendance transactions. There are three enrollment options available: fingerprint only, password only, and fingerprint + password.
Fingerprint Enrollment is most suitable for an office environment where it is easy to obtain a quality scan of employee fingers free of contamination.
Password Enrollment is most suitable for employees that, for physical or other reasons, can be neither enrolled nor verified via fingerprint scanning.
Fingerprint + Password Enrollment is most suitable for employees that enroll successfully but encounter difficulty during subsequent attempts at verification.
Enrollment may be performed on a central device and the fingerprint templates replicated later to other devices using ValLink’s Template Management function.
Note
Each device has the ability to enroll employees. By default, a device automatically assigns the next sequential Reader ID (in its memory) during enrollment. If you enroll employees on different devices using those default Reader ID's, it is likely that the same Reader ID will eventually be assigned to different employees. If you replicate one employee's template to another device that already contains that same ID, an error occurs. To avoid this, do not use the default ID's at enrollment time, but enter a unique ID for each employee during Step 1 of the enrollment process.
Warning
A new vPod has no restrictions as to who may enroll users or access the configuration menus. Therefore, the first person to enroll should be an administrator or supervisor of the system. You must enroll at least one administrator fingerprint to enable the vPod for operation with ValLink.
The vPod has four levels of access to the device:
Users &endash; employees for whom time and attendance (Shift Start, Shift End, etc.) is verified.
Enrollers &endash; users authorized to enroll or delete users from the vPod.
Administrators &endash; users authorized to enroll or delete users (and enroll a Supervisor if none are currently enrolled) as well as set/change vPod configuration settings (except Advanced Options).
Supervisors &endash; users with access to all vPod functions and configuration settings. Only a Supervisor can enroll additional supervisors.
Regardless of access level, all enrollees are automatically assigned a Reader ID number during the enrollment process unless they override the number manually. You should print out a list of employees and record this ID number next to the employee’s name during enrollment. This number is later linked to the employee’s name and Employee ID in ValLink’s Employee Management Menu.
